British Authorities Liquidate Telegram Messenger LLP
The Companies House in Britain officially announced the liquidation of Pavel Durov’s Telegram Messenger LLP company, which appears in the lawsuit in the Russian Federation as the chief legal entity representing the interests of the app for instant messages exchange.
The report on the British government’s website dated January 15, 2019, states that the property and rights under the control of LLP will become unmanaged in two months, which means that they will belong to the British crown. On April 2, 2019, this provision took effect, destroying the company, which is blacklisted by Roskomnadzor.
In December 2018, Durov filed a petition for the liquidation of his own company but did not disclose the reasons for such a move. This situation will not affect the functioning of the messenger, as the head of the company has registered the new enterprise called Telegram Systems LLP.
Probably, Durov made such a decision due to the blocking of the Telegram messenger on the territory of the Russian Federation. Earlier, he stated that Roskomnadzor had banned the application because of the developers’ refusal to cooperate with FSB and disclose the encryption keys for users’ messages to the departments. It was reported that this request could not be completed for technical reasons.
Previously, a video revealing the Telegram wallet interface, which is still in the development stage, appeared on the Internet.
