Russian Duma Postpones Consideration Of Bill On Crypto Regulation
The Russian State Duma decided to postpone the consideration of the draft law on the regulation of digital financial instruments to the spring of 2019, the REGNUM news agency reports.
According to Sergei Neverov, the head of the United Russia party, politicians have repeatedly discussed the fact that the forced improvement of the technological sphere implies decisiveness on the part of the government. In his opinion, such a strategy creates competitive conditions for Russia.
Neverov noted that the problems of introducing digital technologies into the economic processes of the country are extremely important for the deputies. He said that the adoption of the draft law on cryptocurrency assets, which was approved during the first reading, is “already overdue”, so it must be considered no later than in the second reading within a spring session.
The bill covers not only issues in the legal field regarding crypto instruments but also defines the regulatory standards for the digital currencies mining within the Russian territory.
Last week, the authors of the draft law reported that they did not intend to change the content of the document and plan to adhere to the previously developed concept, which was approved by the finance committee and the civil law committee.
As previously reported, the blockchain-based elections in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation collected about 15 thousand votes and become the most massive event of such kind, according to the organizers.
