Reno, along with Las Vegas, is a marriage center not only in the United States but throughout the world, because the marriage procedure does not take a long time here. Besides, Reno is being called “the largest small city in the world”.
The authorities decided that the marriage procedure could be even faster if blockchain technology is applied. Thus, as follows from the statistics of the municipality, 950 marriages were registered on the Ethereum blockchain in Reno in 2018.
Phil Dhingra, the head of Titan Seal, stated in an interview with a local newspaper that the documents were entered into the Ethereum blockchain, as it meets all the security requirements for storing and protecting personal data.
Usually, it takes ten working days to issue a marriage certificate, and blockchain allows preparing it within a day. The document is stored forever, and there is no need to notarize or recover it in case of loss, as it happens with traditional certificates.
In another district of Nevada, Elko, the authorities began to issue birth certificates on blockchain. All this became possible after the adoption of the relevant law by the state legislators.
As previously reported, the Chinese company China Mobile IoT has developed a water purification system on blockchain.
