Deutsche Börse To Launch Cryptocurrency Futures
Eurex, a European derivatives exchange, managed by Deutsche Börse, the leading German stock exchange, plans to launch several futures contracts pegged to cryptocurrencies, The Block reports.
Until now, American exchanges have been active in the market for crypto futures contracts. In 2017, CME and Cboe Global Markets from Chicago launched bitcoin futures. The Eurex platform conducts marketing research and is ready to go further and offer clients trading in futures for ether and Ripple's XRP token, apart from bitcoins.
Deutsche Börse paid attention to cryptocurrency back in 2017, during the growth of the crypto market. With the help of futures contracts, institutional and retail investors can protect investments in bitcoins and lower the price of the cryptocurrency, representatives of the exchange’s press service stated at that time.
The exact date of commencement of crypto futures trading on the Eurex exchange is still unknown.
Eurex is popular all over the world and is one of the leading exchanges engaged in trading derivative financial instruments. It was created at the end of the last century. Trading is conducted in electronic form, anyone can participate in it, being anywhere on the globe.
The exchange offers its customers a large selection of derivative financial instruments from stocks, stock indices, bonds, and other assets.
Earlier, representatives of Deutsche Börse announced significant progress in developing a blockchain platform for securities lending.
