British Transport Firm To Reward Passengers With Tokens
Go-Ahead Group Plc., a major provider of public transport in the UK, joined the cryptocurrency industry. Together with the blockchain project DOVU, the company will develop a tokenized reward system for railway passengers, TechCrunch reports.
The DOVU startup will create a decentralized platform with the internal DOV tokens of the ERC-20 standard, which passengers can get for sharing information about their trip. The cryptocurrency incentive mechanisms will be utilized by the passengers of the popular lines Thameslink and Southern Rail.
In turn, the transport company will receive relevant data which will help improve the quality of its services, according to Krasina Mileva, co-founder of DOVU. It is noted that Go-Ahead serves more than one billion rail and bus rides in the United Kingdom each year.
Also, the crypto platform will give tokens to the passengers of commuters for any changes in their transport behavior, but the DOVU specialists have not yet commented on the mechanisms of such remuneration.
Earlier, the blockchain startup DOVU collaborated with the German automobile corporation BMW. In partnership, the developers created a tokenized reward system stimulating drivers to track their mileage on rented cars.
The DOVU team sees its goal in the creation of “a global marketplace for transport data”. The startup is funded by the vehicle companies InMotion Ventures and Jaguar Land Rover, as well as the British government fund Creative England.
