What is it for?

A developer under the nickname Sunny King, one of the creators of consensus protocol Proof-of-Stake, intends to launch another blockchain algorithm termed Supernode Proof-of-Stake (SPoS), Bitcoin Exchange Guide informs.

The new protocol will require specialized equipment such as computers with large data storage capacity, hence performing the function of supernodes. According to Sunny King, SPoS isn’t much different from the delegated Proof-of-Stake algorithm, as it is also aimed at staking pools. With the help of the SPoS consensus, the developer strives to ensure the independent operation of millions of blockchain networks on a single platform with a top-level security system and high energy efficiency.

Sunny King created a special solution for the company Virtual Economy Era (VEE) based in Hong Kong, where he holds the position of the leading architect. The company release of VEE tokens will be done on September 17, which is likely to be created using a new algorithm. In any case, the project's source code will be available to everyone.

Some critics of the project argue that the new algorithm contradicts the philosophy of the cryptocurrency community and will lead to centralization. In turn, the creator replied that this is only a compromise on the way to a more efficient system.

As previously reported, Brendan Eich, an American programmer and developer of Javascript, created the Universal Protocol Platform for interoperability of cryptocurrencies using blockchain technology.
