Opera To Release A Desktop Browser Version With Built-In Crypto Wallet

13:48 09/08/2018

A new version of the desktop Opera browser will come out with built-in functions of a crypto wallet. The web application can be synchronized with the user's smartphone, this way enhancing the security of transactions, according to the press release.

In July, the company has launched a mobile browser Android-application equipped with its own wallet. According to Opera representatives, the appreciation of the crypto community prompted the developers to create a PC version of the app.

Users, who intend to work with Opera browser wallet on their computers, will be able to synchronize the account already existing in the mobile app by scanning the QR code with the smartphone. Opera has been using this technology for several years. For example, it connects Whatsapp web version and mobile app in the same way.

The synchronization with a smartphone will allow the system to use its security features to protect the wallet. In particular, it is possible to confirm transactions with fingerprints, that is much faster and safer than if the user prints a password in the browser window, as stated in Opera press release. In addition, the wallet customers can store private keys on their personal smartphones.

According to Opera representative Charles Hamel, the built-in crypto wallet relieves the users from installing additional extensions. Many customers find it more convenient to make payments and use decentralized apps from desktop computers, he claims. Now Opera users can store tokens and purchase collectibles, like CryptoKitties, on their PC.

Cryptocurrency wallets are becoming more accessible to ordinary users. As previously reported, Citowise crypto wallet started accepting credit cards.
