Exchange BitMEX Moves To One Of World Most Expensive Business Centers
The representatives of BitMEX crypto exchange relocated their central office to one of the most elite business centers, Bloomberg reports referring to the local media Hong Kong Economic Times.
Management of the trading platform, previously located in a relatively inexpensive office in a warehouse area near Victoria Harbor, moved to the 45th floor of the Cheung Kong Center. Now the offices of the most powerful representatives of the finance industry, including Goldman Sachs Group, Bank of America and others, are located in this business center. Earlier, BitMEX had planned to rent only a half of the floor, but due to increase in the personnel number, it was decided to rent the entire area of the floor (20,000 square feet in total).
By comparison, the former company’s head office cost 25 Hong Kong dollars (just over $3) per square foot, while the price per one square foot in Cheung Kong is nine times higher (225 Hong Kong dollars or about $28.6). Such a serious increase in expenses can mean that the corporate profit of the crypto exchange is steadily growing despite tangible crypto market fluctuations.
Now BitMEX represents one of the most influential cryptocurrency trading platforms. According to CoinMarketCap, the exchange is rated the second in the daily trading volume which exceeds $3.2 billion at the time of the publication.
As previously reported, BitMEX’s specialists calculated how many BTC the miner, who had been dominating the bitcoin network during 2009, managed to earn. Presumably, that miner was Satoshi Nakamoto — the creator or a group of creators of bitcoin protocol.
