Crypto Enthusiast Elected As Colorado Governor
Jared Polis, a member of the House of Representatives of the US Congress and openly gay person, who is also a supporter of cryptocurrency and blockchain, was elected as a governor of the state of Colorado, The Block reports.
In his election program, Polis actively promoted initiatives related to blockchain technology and the crypto sphere. One of them was related to the study of how blockchain can help in conducting election campaigns within the framework of the implementation of the XXI century cybersecurity infrastructure.
Another idea was to create a safe haven for the free cryptocurrency circulation so that the legislation did not create any obstacles for digital assets. According to Polis, it is necessary to develop regulations to protect cryptocurrency. The congressman also proposed to transfer the entire energy system of Colorado to blockchain.
The elected governor was remembered for his dispute with Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia, who called for bitcoin ban in 2014. Polis answered jokingly that it was also possible to ban the US dollar and named the advantages of cryptocurrencies and the disadvantages of fiat money. There is a link to the Bitpay resource, which allows accepting bitcoin as donations, on the personal website of Polis.
Now the politician has every opportunity to implement the election program and make Colorado a national center for blockchain and other innovations as a governor.
As previously reported, the former head of the US Federal Reserve received bitcoins as a gift.
