Rating Of Richest Chinese Includes 13 Crypto Enthusiasts
The annual Hurun rating, which publishes names of the richest people in China with incomes more than $200 million, in 2018 included several crypto-related businessmen in the list.
The report points out 13 Chinese entrepreneurs, whose business is connected with digital currencies trading and mining. Among the top 100 most affluent people is Bitmain co-founder Micree Zhan. The company, producing GPUs and equipment for mining, brought the businessman about $2.4 billion this year.
Among other major players in the industry, Hurun rating mentions another co-founder and head of Bitmain Wu Jihan. With a capital of over $2.3 billion, he is ranked 204th in the list of wealthiest people. Earlier, the company announced its intention to hold an IPO. According to anonymous sources, the mining giant plans to raise $3 billion.
The head of Binance, the leading crypto platform by trading volume, Changpeng Zhao turned out to be 230th among the richest people in China. His revenues are estimated at $2.1 billion. Recently, Binance has decided to donate fees for listing new tokens to charity. As Zhao stated, the team puts the quality of the product above everything, not the amount of the tax paid.
The founder of OKCoin crypto exchange, Star Xu, and chairman of Huobi, the fifth largest platform by trading volume, Li Lin, are the next in the list.
A famous Chinese cryptocurrency investor Li Xiaolai is also in the Hurun list, with a fortune estimated at $1 billion. Li Xiaolai set up the investment crypto company BitFund in Beijing and is one of the most well-known Bitcoin holders in the country. However, the billionaire decided to change the scope and doesn’t plan to invest in blockchain projects.
The list also includes mining industry leaders — the founder of Canaan Creative, Zhang Nangeng, and the head of Ebang, Hu Dong.
