Developers Release New Bitcoin Core Version 0.17.1
The Bitcoin Core technical experts have released a new version 0.17.1 of the most well-known Bitcoin client.
The developers explained to customers in detail how to upgrade to the latest version. It is noted that in the case of updating from Bitcoin Core 0.15.0 and newer, the chain database is converted to a new format. The conversion time depends on the speed of a user's computer, but the procedure takes no more than 30 minutes.
During the testing of the version 0.17.1 different operating systems were used, such as Linux, macOS 10.10+, Windows 7 and newer. However, Windows XP is not supported. The remote procedure call (RPC) parameter, “listtransactions”, has been given the new name “label”.
The Bitcoin network specialists report that the old wallet versions are supported as always. Moreover, the update description presents many other necessary functions.
Bitcoin Core is the official client of the Bitcoin network, in other words, the software in which all transactions take place. Here users can store tokens, send, and receive them. The program was created by an independent development team led by Wladimir van der Laan. He was the one who presented the release.
The Bitcoin Core previous version 0.17.0 was introduced in early October 2018. It contained a range of innovations aimed at improving the work of the Bitcoin network. Users received the opportunity to open wallets at any time. Besides, the Scantxoutset function was added, which allows checking the availability of funds on a new crypto wallet, and the overall performance was increased.
